What Do I Know?

I've been a professional graphic designer for some time now, but way back before I ever took a class to learn any design software I've always pretty much found it fascinating to dissect computer programs and learn as much about them as I can by just playing, clicking and experimenting. Below are some tricks I've picked up along the way and some insights into the processes I use to create my digital artwork.

Tutorials & Quick Tips

Tutorial - Vector Textures

Follow along with me as I take a photo that I snapped while on a walk through Photoshop and Illustrator and turn it into a texture that's 100% vector. Then we'll apply the texture we created to some lettering to give it an aged, marble sort of look.

Quick Tip _ Quick Aligning Objects In Photoshoip CS3

While working on a projectin Photoshop I realized that objects can quickly be aligned by drawing a selection with the Marquee tool and using the Align icons atop the screen. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to spacing, so this is a great way to make sure your objects line up perfectly. I couldn't be happier that Align functions are now a part of Photoshop. I use to use Illustrator to create objects and then import them into Photoshop to ensure they were aligned or spaced properly - no more need for that!

Tutorial - The Process Of Designing A Skate Deck

At least this was the process I used to design this skateboard deck for a joint-commisioned project put on by Element Skateboards and Vapors Magazine. This is a pretty long walkthrough of the steps I took to create all of the different elements used in the design and how I put them together,

The main topics include; Readying the Elements, Crest Illustration, Portrait Illustration, Repeating Patterns and finally, Layout.
